Ultrasoundz music entered into Soundtrax movie competition

Gav has entered three of his solo recordings — under his occasional Ultrasoundz moniker — to a competition run by Soundtrax on Muzu.tv with a chance to win the opportunity to score a new British movie entitled "Relative Desire". On 19 November a shortlist will be drawn up for the judging panel of the 50 most viewed tracks entered to the contest so, to help Gav make that list, we'd be very grateful if you could spare a few moments to check out each track and, if you like them, click 'like'!

Gav says: "These three tracks are instrumental versions of some songs I recorded at home a few years ago. I guess I was going for a kind of atmosphere that I thought suited the footage in this competition. Who knows..?" Check out the following tracks now...

Here's where I'm at
May 2006

Long time no news - well it's not that I haven't been busy, more that I haven't finished anything yet! Which sounds kinda lame I know but it's the truth frustrating though it is. Work on the COLVEX album is still ploughing forth - bar a few tweaks all my drum parts are now 'down' along with Scott's bass lines and so the bulk of the workload now sits firmly on Simon and Adam's shoulders (not that I'm putting any pressure on guys...). I've been working hard on the sleeve design and a new website for the band - we had an excellent photo shoot for the cover - all will be revealved soon but let's just say fo now top brownie points go to the make-up dept!

As for my own material , earlier this year I started rehearsing with a couple of singers but for one reason or another (mainly my energy levels or lack thereof) things didn't quite take off. But if there is a big-picture I'd still love to return to the project - I know there's a truly epic album in there somewhere!!

Update from Gav: "Still working mainly with the band at the moment on all kinds of projects - not least the album - but thought I would add the first song I've penned this year to the site. It's a funky little ditty called 'Face The Pain' which is I hope a lot more uplifting than the title suggests. Could well end up becoming a COLVEX track, but meantime, hope you enjoy my first draft!"

Ultrasoundz update: US radio and projects in the works

Gav writes: "A very happy New Year to year to you all! Before you thought I'd truly gone into hibernation, I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to recently. One word: BUSY! Mainly I have been working on the début COLVEX album which is now hopefully only a couple of months away from completion! But I have still made time to devote to recording some more Ultrasoundz material which I hope will be presentable and live on this site very soon.

Simon and I have also been talking about re-recording some of the material by our old band THE SECRETS - stuff of which I am still very proud. We had a lot of great ideas and themes going on and it would be great to give those tunes the 'full treatment' with everything we've both learnt since about production. Will keep you posted.

Meantime, 3 of my tracks are now featured on the US based web radio station, PulverRadio.com. You can find the Ultrasoundz content at:

New Ultrasoundz tracks online
February 2004

Firstly, apologies for the long delay posting any new material! This is because I have spent the last 3 months or so upgrading my studio setup with a transition from recording on the desk to the Mac using Pro Tools. I'm still on a learning curve with this but from what I can tell so far, I'm mightily impressed with the software. The new tracks I have posted here include a new mix of "Another Crush", an (as yet) instrumental "Things You Never Leave Behind", and two songs sung by the brilliant Juliet Harding (pictured right) . All are a product of the new setup and I hope you'll enjoy listening to them as much as I have recording them.

Ultrasoundz music added to TV soundtracks
November 2003

UK TV production company Chilli Media have requested 2 Ultrasoundz tracks, "Another Crush" and "My New Religion" to be included on the soundtracks to a forthcoming series of extreme sports programmes due to be broadcast on cable and satellite channels Sky Sports and Extreme. Gav is 'chuffed'! The series is now in production, check back soon for further updates...

Guest vocalist sessions underway
October 2003

Following a small ad placed in the NME earlier this summer, requesting female vocalists who would be interested in adding their talents to Ultrasoundz tracks to send in demos, Gavin was inundated with over 40 responses! After sifting through numerous CDs and tapes, he drew up a shortlist and began working with singer Juliet Harding who added vocals to 3 tracks in all, results to follow soon on this website.

Future collaborations are also likely - any vocalists interested should get in touch via the contact page.
